Inagural Islamic Conference

Inaugural Islamic Finance Conference

Marking a historic moment for Uganda, the Islamic Finance Hub hosted the nation’s first dedicated Islamic finance conference. The event attracted policymakers, Sharia scholars, financiers, business leaders, and academics from across Africa and beyond. Discussions covered regulatory frameworks, Sharia-compliant financial products, investment opportunities, and the role of Islamic finance in sustainable development. It set the foundation for continued growth and collaboration within the Ugandan Islamic finance industry.

Islamic Finance Hub Master Class

Islamic Finance Hub Masterclass

An intensive in-country training designed to strengthen practical understanding of Islamic finance principles, products, and governance structures. Delivered by industry experts, the program covered topics such as Murabaha financing, Takaful, Islamic investment strategies, and regulatory compliance. It served as a platform for knowledge transfer, peer learning, and fostering collaborations among financial institutions, legal practitioners, and regulators.

Cambridge WOMANi Event – Dubai

Our Executive Director was honoured as one of the 500 most influential women in Islamic business and finance for both 2023 and 2024. This prestigious recognition, awarded during the Cambridge WOMANi event in Dubai, celebrates her leadership, impact, and commitment to advancing Islamic finance. The event gathered prominent female leaders from across the globe, fostering networking, mentorship, and strategic collaborations to promote gender diversity in the sector.

Sukuk Master Class

Sukuk Masterclass (in partnership with Cambridge Institute of Islamic Finance)

A specialized training program focused on the structuring, issuance, and management of Sukuk (Islamic bonds). Delivered in collaboration with the Cambridge Institute of Islamic Finance, the masterclass brought together financial professionals, regulators, and academics to deepen technical capacity in Islamic capital markets. Participants explored case studies, global best practices, and opportunities for Sukuk to drive infrastructure and economic development in Uganda.

Cambridge Leadership Program

Cambridge Islamic Finance Leadership Program

Held at the historic Clare College, University of Cambridge UK, this intensive leadership program brought together emerging and established leaders in Islamic finance from around the world. Our participation provided access to high-level discussions on industry trends, Sharia governance, fintech innovations, and ethical investment strategies. The program also offered invaluable networking with global thought leaders and policymakers.

Conference

Islamic Finance & Banking in Uganda: “The 360 View”

Held at Onomo Hotel, Kampala, and organised by the Uganda Law Society, BDO, Signum Advocates, and MESA Advocates, this high-level conference offered a comprehensive 360° perspective on Islamic finance in Uganda, covering legal, operational, and investment angles. As part of the RNB Vision 2060 initiative, it featured opening remarks from Mr. Isaac Ssemakadde, President of the Uganda Law Society, who underscored the role of legal practitioners in shaping policy and regulation for Islamic finance. Keynote addresses were delivered by Prof. Humayon Dar, Alhaji Kaddunabi Lubega, and Dr. Rizwan Malik, with panel discussions uniting regulators, financial institutions, law firms, and academia.
